Warm summer nights

Eric and I spend some time in Downtown Phoenix Tuesday night photographing a beautiful shade structure he designed. Eric was using my Nikon to capture how his structure interacts with the art instillation.

India

Glorious just about sums up our trip to India. The Mountains the food, okay maybe not always the people, but in general India was all I was hoping and more. Here are a few of my favorite images so far. Still haven't gone through them all...

Let's Start Over... A Third Time

Eric and I are now on the 3rd round of changes to our travel itinerary for our upcoming trip to India. The 2nd plan consisted of flying into New Delhi then catching a flight to Kathmandu exploring our way through Nepal//making our way back to Delhi via trains/buses. Now that Nepal is closed/unsafe to travel in we need a new plan. I have been looking into visiting Darjeeling and Sikkim. Specifically flying into Bagdora take a bus or taxi to Siliguri then catch a "toy train" on the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway to Darjeeling. Then, if we like, make our way to Sikkim or start heading west back to New Delhi; by train possibly. Sounds like the best plan would be to stay in Darjeeling and Sikkim for our entire trip... "The train ride back from DJ to Delhi does have some amazing places to see, but it'll be *scorching* hot. I remember how hard it was taking photos, as the sweat kept flooding the viewfinder and burning my eyes." Same person has this to say about trekking around Sikkim, "The scenery is unspeakably beautiful, flowers all around, 100s of different butterflies, its unreal." Take a look...

Sparks

I was feeling a bit under-the-weather last night so I decided to hang around my house while my roommate and my boyfriend played shop. Overall the evening was a success! Eric's Mazda is ready to sell and Ginger is one step closer to being restored. Thanks Adam!

Snow?

Arizona you have fooled me again! The weather this spring has been very frustrating for us avid climbers. This weekends climbing trip was cut short by a freak May blizzard. The snow was quite beautiful though.

Flowers

Tonight we are having a Mexican fiesta in celebration of Eric getting "old". The mahi-mahi, Mexican slaw, chipotle salsa and Mexican crema have been prepped for the baja tacos. Now all I have to do is decorate. Here are a few of the tissue papers flowers I have been working on. Love how some of the color combinations I thought would look strange turned out to be some of my favorite.

Birthday Pancakes

Today is my boyfriends 28th birthday. Even though the birthday backpacking trip I have been planning is most likely going to be postponed, due to rain, the chocolate chip pancakes I made this morning turned out fabulously!!! Can't let Eric start his day without a batch of birthday pancakes!

POP

Subida is one passed out puppy! This picture was taken during Subi's first backpacking trip. He is one lucky boy to have an owner willing to pack in an extra sleeping bag!!! I've recently been thinking of converting one of my old sleeping bags into a puppy sized bag — help cut down on the weight of my pack. Started to look around for a dog specific sleeping bag and was shocked that there really aren't any high quality bags out there. Alpha Dog Toys advertises a 30 degrees bag but, I couldn't find anything lower. Guess I'm going to have to add this to my list of challenges/projects.

Say Hello to Ginger

Ginger is my other new "challenge/project". She is a vintage road bike I picked up on Craigslist a few weeks back. I will be disassembling the entire bike, cleaning, tuning and re-greasing every part. My ultimate goal is to learn how a bike functions/be able maintain my bikes. I work on her every Wednesday night at the Bike Saviours Coop in Tempe. If your interested in learning how to build or maintain a bike it is a great place to start http://www.bikesaviours.org/

Chicken Dinner

I have been looking forward to spending time with my brother and his wife all day. Decided to bring over my "famous" rosemary garlic roasted chicken along with two types of rice and a beautiful salad (that was inspired by my boyfriend). Every time I make this chicken I think of my good friend Laura — she loves this recipe.

New Challenges

A rock climbing friend asked me if I would photograph his wedding coming up in June. After re-reading the email 50 times — I mean this is a big deal right? I decided to say yes. Of course this was after I made sure the couple understood the final shots may not be what they might expect from a seasoned wedding photographer. Knowing this I am determined to deliver the highest quality images possible. So, I've started researching... Oh, yes this includes checking out all the wedding photography books available through my public library, reading countless blogs and of course carrying my Nikon D70 around with me almost every where I go. Subida, my camera shy catahoula, was my first model.
